Active Release Techniques (ART): A patented, non invasive, state of the art soft tissue system that treats problems with muscles, tendons, ligaments, and nerves. Headaches, back pain, carpal tunnel syndrome, shin splints, shoulder pain, sciatica, plantar fasciitis,  and tennis elbow are just a few of the many conditions that can be resolved quickly and permanently with ART. These conditions all have one thing in common; they often result from injury to over used muscles.

Ultrasound: A therapeutic treatment using high frequency sound waves administered in the region of soft tissue injuries. Sound vibrations, as fast as a million times per second, penetrate the tissues deep in the body, creating a heat response. These vibrations and heat help break down adhesions and scar tissue. As well, it helps to disperse unhealthy calcium and other hard tissue accumulations. It stimulates healing without irritation.

Electrotherapy: A therapeutic treatment to offer pain relief and to aid in reducing muscle spasms and swelling of soft tissue. Ligament sprains, muscle strains and spasms often respond to this treatment. Most patients find it to be extremely beneficial. There are a variety of different electrotherapy modalities and therapeutic settings.

Therapeutic heat: Many pains result from strains and over exertions, creating tension in the muscles and soft tissue around a joint. As a result this restricts proper circulation and sends pain signals to the brain. Heat dilates blood vessels therefore increasing the flow of nutrients and oxygen to the muscles, helping to heal damaged tissue. It  facilitates stretching and flexibilty of the muscles and also stimulates sensory cells to decrease transmission of pain signals to the brain.

Biofreeze / Cryotherapy (Cold Therapy): Biofreeze is a unique, effective pain reliever formulated to provide a variety of benefits for therapy, pain relief, exercise/training and overall comfort. Applying cold to an area is important. As it slows down circulation to decrease inflammation. It numbs the area to reduce pain. These allow the body to heal faster. This long lasting, deep penetrating pain relief can last up to several hours. Pain-free muscles heal faster.

Surface EMG (Electromyograph): This diagnostic technology measures the amount of electrical activity your muscles release when they are contracting. It is similar to an EKG which measures heart muscle activity. Muscles have a tendency to "brace" in response to spinal misalignments. These problem areas within the spine create nerve interference and can lead to degenerative disc and joint disease. This technology will accurately determine if you muscles and nerves are working properly.

Computerized Posture Analysis: Besides being a window to the spine, posture reflects the additional forces acting on the body. Through the use of a computerized posture analysis examination, an accurate assessment of the extra loading on the spine can be made. A report is generated to provide an effective way for the patient to understand how these postural abnormalities are causing abnormal stress to various parts of the body. From there a customized spinal rehabilitation program can be implemented to correct the postural dysfunction.

Computerized Body Composition Analysis: The evaluation of body composition is an important component of a preventative health examination. A true indication of one\'s fitness level is the amount of fat vs. lean body mass. The electrolipograph measures the body fat, lean body mass, water %, and basal metabolic rate, and computes exactly how many calories your body needs to perform. Know your body... An analysis of the human body in relation to its major components.

Custom Prescription Orthotics:  The best solution to counter problems with the feet is with Orthotics. The Footlevelers computerized foot scan system is the most accurate way of providing superior control and correction for foot and gait abnormalities. Custom made specifically for you, Footlevelers orthotics will correct and improve the way your feet strike the ground, enhancing your natural movement and helping your feet move more efficiently.

Phases Rehabilitation: Did you know that treating pain with medication and rest might actually be making your pain worse? Sports medicine has shown that a more active approach that focuses on improving function of the painful area can accelerate healing and prevent recurring pain. Typical exercise protocols developed by Dr. Starr involve combination of rubber tubing, ball, floor proprioception and stretching/strengthening exercises. An active care approach will help take you from pain relief to wellness care.
