PERFORMANCE CARE
Athlete: A person possessing the natural or acquired traits, such as strength, agility, and endurance, that are necessary for physical exercise or sports, especially those performed in competitive contexts.
Every human motion is comprised of a complex series of actions, triggered by various nerve impulses, and executed by specific sets of muscles. Each activity requires a combination of precise action, strength and superb balance. Restrictions within soft tissues, joints or pressure on nerves can affect one or more of these actions.
With athletes, difficult training regimes, repetitive motions and overworked muscles all place a great deal of stress on an athletes body. These stresses cause physiological changes that cannot be counter-acted by simple exercise regimes. They require physical manipulation of the tissues and joints to remove the problem and return the athlete to optimal performance. Effective soft tissue release techniques remove restrictive adhesive tissue that can help improve performance in any sport from running, skiing, weight lifting, football, soccer, golf and hockey.
We know that subtle or gross changes in the physiology of an athlete\'s body can have a tremendous impact upon the time and effort required to perform an activity.
A difference of just a few seconds improvement in a runner\'s performance can mean the difference between a win or a loss.
Performance care is used to increase the performance of an athlete (speed, endurance, strength) by working with the neuromusculoskeletal system to enhance their performance. Performance care will notice little problems before they arise into larger issues. It will notice hidden restrictions within the soft tissues and joints in order to restore full function and allow the athlete to perform their best.
